About SIRIUS

SIRIUS is a major enterprise sponsored by Florida Community College at Jacksonville. It reflects the college’s commitment to creative, interactive learning and excellent teaching.

Three major initiatives are included under the SIRIUS enterprise:

Development of highly creative, interactive, low-cost courses and instructional materials which can be delivered in all modes—face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and fully online

Faculty development programs, available fully online, to provide interactive experience in pedagogy— applying learning and motivation research and theory to the development and teaching of hybrid/ blended and fully online courses—as well as applications of technology, including the Blackboard Academic Suite

An electronic instructional design tool (the Instructional Design Assistant or IDA) for faculty use which provides prompts to support the development and delivery of creative, interactive courses (this component of the enterprise is under development)

Corporate and Institutional Partnerships

SIRIUS benefits from the participation of two organizations: McGraw-Hill Learning Solutions and The International Academy for the Scholarship of Learning Technology.
