Course Development
SIRIUS courses are complete course materials packages. They are highly creative, interactive, low-cost courses which can be delivered in all modes--face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and fully online. The courses are designed to improve student retention and performance.
Courses are developed by teams including faculty, instructional designers, multimedia specialists, editors, quality assurance staff, and outside content consultants. All content and pedagogy are developed by the team using the latest technology including SoftChalk’s LessonBuilder. Emphasis is on the development of highly creative, interactive courses making use of the latest research in learning and motivation. The development teams teach the courses during the beta period, prior to full release, and faculty external to Florida State College at Jacksonville and the SIRUS program review the content of the courses.
Courses are developed for the Blackboard Learn 9.0 platform. The courses are available for use on other systems including Blackboard Campus Edition, Angel, Moodle, Sakai, Desire2Learn, and WebStudy. No charge is incurred for courses made available in any of the listed learning management systems to members of the Project DELTA Consortium.
